The AI Uncertainty (AIU) Index tracks discussion of uncertainty about the economic impacts of artificial intelligence in major news outlets across the US, UK and selected European countries.
Based on the methodology developed for the Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) Index, the AIU Index identifies news articles that mention artificial intelligence alongside the economy and uncertainty, as well as related terms. By focusing on articles that frame AI in an economic context, the index measures uncertainty surrounding AI’s potential economic effects, rather than broader discussions of innovation, technology or productivity.
