ESCoE Leadership Executive member Paul Mizen awarded OBE

ESCoE is delighted to congratulate Paul Mizen, a member of our Leadership Executive, who has been recognised in the King’s 2026 New Year Honours for services to Economic Research and Public Policy.

Paul is Deputy Dean, Vice Dean (Research) and Professor at King’s Business School, King’s College London. His ESCoE research focuses on using firm-level surveys to measure the economic impact of shocks like COVID-19developing the Management and Expectations Survey, and analysing industrial and regional capacity, investment, productivity, and output growth, which has been published in leading economics journals such as the Review of Economic Statistics. He was previously Deputy Director of ESCoE in 2023-24.

Beyond King’s and ESCoE, Paul is also principal investigator and co-founder of the ESRC Decision Maker Panel, a major survey informing UK economic policy. He has advised the Bank of England and held visiting roles at leading global institutions. His contributions have earned him fellowships with the Office for National Statistics, the Royal Society of Arts, and the Academy of Social Sciences, as well as membership of the National Statistician’s Committee for Advice on Standards for Economic Statistics (NSCASE) 2022-2025.

Paul has published seven books and over 140 publications and serves on the Leadership Executives for The Productivity Institute, and the Money Macro and Finance Society. Before joining King’s in 2023, he was Professor of Monetary Economics at the University of Nottingham and held visiting positions at Princeton University, the European University Institute, and the University of Vienna.

Paul’s recognition reflects his significant contributions to the field of economic statistics and his ongoing commitment to strengthening the quality, accessibility, and impact of UK economic data.
