We are looking for a Director of Research and Enterprise to work with other members of the ESCoE Leadership Executive to develop and deliver a cutting-edge research programme to improve understanding of the economy through innovation in economic measurement, data and statistics. This is a part time position initially for up to 45 working days per year at £1,000 per day.
This role will draw on the outputs of 90+ Research Associates working on nine distinct programmes of research:
- Beyond GDP and inclusive wealth
- Net-zero, climate change and the environment
- National Accounts, including price measurement
- Globalisation
- Productivity and innovation, including public sector productivity
- Developing methodologies for new data sources
- Labour markets, households and inequality
- Subnational statistics
- Communicating and valuing economic statistics
The Director of Research and Enterprise will keep abreast of the research frontier and will have a good working knowledge of these programmes of research, keeping up to date with progress in meeting deliverables in each programme. They will understand the requirements of the ONS, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and others who provide financial backing for ESCoE. They will help the Leadership Executive to realise the Centre’s ambition to be an international point of reference for measurement research, supporting cultural change in the delivery of economic statistics. They will have a comprehensive understanding of international guidelines for economic statistics, and how these might be developed and built upon to improve economic statistics in the UK and elsewhere.
