Jakob Schneebacher joins ESCoE’s Leadership Executive

Jakob Schneebacher has joined ESCoE’s Leadership Executive, with a focus on developing UK micro-data.

Jakob is an Associate Director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) and a visiting fellow at King’s College London. Jakob’s research focuses on measuring and understanding how firms are created, compete, adapt and grow.

Jakob also brings direct experience in UK policy institutions to this role. Before joining the IFS, Jakob helped set up the Competition and Markets Authority’s research-focused Microeconomics Unit and led the Office for National Statistics’ firm-level microdata research.

“Better and more timely microdata is critical to understanding many of the UK’s current challenges: sluggish productivity growth, the twin transitions to Net Zero and artificial intelligence, shifting trade and geopolitics. ESCoE is uniquely placed to address these data gaps and I am thrilled to be able to help them do so.”
