Alison Kilburn

Alison is the Director of Analysis and Chief Economist at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

She leads the evidence base for government policy on Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, science and innovation, and the modern digital government. As a professional economist, with more than three decades of experience working in government, she has held several senior roles across analysis, strategy, and policy. Most recently, she was the Director of Analysis and Chief Economist in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport, and prior to that in the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.  

Alison brings expertise as both a producer and user of economic statistics, with a focus on how economic statistics are used to shape policy.
