The Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE) held its annual conference, organised in partnership with the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Bank of England, in London on 16 – 17 May 2018.
The conference covered all aspects of the measurement and use of economic statistics, including: the productivity puzzle, the digital economy, National Accounts and ‘Beyond GDP’, regional statistics, measurement using big data and administrative data, international trade flows and the location of economic activity. It followed up on the concepts and challenges raised in the Bean Review and discussed at the ONS International Conference on Economic Statistics 2017.

Student Competition (closed)
ESCoE ran a competition for economics students to win a delegate place, with travel and accommodation provided, at this Conference.
The conference provided an ideal learning opportunity for those interested in a career as an economic analyst, as well as a chance for students to network with leading economic experts. Our competition, to attend and have travel and accommodation provided, was open to post-graduate and under-graduate economics students. Applications were assessed by members of the ONS Economic Experts Working Group.
