Why ESCoE?

A commitment to working collaboratively and across disciplinary, institutional and national boundaries is at the heart of ESCoE’s ambitions to be an international point of reference for measurement research.

ESCoE provides a range of opportunities for joint working between the academic, policy-making and statistics professionals communities.

In addition to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) our funders include UK government departments and the UK Research and Innovation’s Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). We have developed and maintain strong links with an international network of stakeholders who help further connect us to the global economic measurement community. Our network includes colleagues from organisations such as The Conference Board, Eurostat, OECD, several national statistical institutes (NSIs) and central banks, as well as many academics from universities in the UK and around the world.

To date we have successfully funded and completed many research projects that are changing the way statistics are used to view the economy. Each project is headed by an ESCoE professorial lead to ensure that research is carried out to world-class standards. The models, methodologies and results generated by our research are incorporated into the production of national statistics by the ONS and other stakeholders. We support knowledge exchange and development through secondments between our partner institutions, the ONS and other key stakeholders.
