ESCoE Engagement Director, Closing Date 22 February 2024

As we begin a new programme of research we are looking for an Engagement Director to coordinate the engagement of ESCoE with stakeholders in government departments and the international statistical community. This is a part time position initially for up to 25 working days per year at £1,000 per day, as needed; the time commitment will be reviewed after a year. A travel budget will be attached to this role. The Engagement Director will be able to draw on the support of the ESCoE professional services team.

Working with members of the Leadership Team (Director, Deputy Director and wider ESCoE Leadership Executive) the Engagement Director will draw on the outputs of 60+ Research Associates working on eight distinct programmes of research:

  • Beyond GDP and Inclusive Wealth
  • National Accounts
  • Net-zero, Climate Change and the Environment
  • Productivity, Innovation and Business Dynamics
  • Subnational Statistics
  • Labour Markets and Households
  • Time Use Survey
  • Communicating and Valuing Economic Statistics

The Engagement Director will have a good working knowledge of these programmes of research and keep up to date with progress in meeting the deliverables in each programme. They will understand the requirements of the Office for National Statistics, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and others who provide financial backing for ESCoE. They will help the Leadership Team to realise the Centre’s ambition to be an international point of reference for measurement research, supporting cultural change in the delivery of economic statistics. Working with the Leadership Team and Communications Manager they will connect the work of ESCoE Research Associates with policy makers, officials, potential funders etc – nationally and internationally. They will make known to the ESCoE Income Generation Group opportunities for financial or in-kind support for the work of ESCoE.
