Former ONS Director of Economic Statistics joins ESCoE as Engagement Director

Darren Morgan, Former Director of Economic Statistics at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has joined the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE) as Engagement Director.

During his career, Darren led the production and analysis of most of the UK’s official economic statistics, including the country’s National and Regional Accounts, GDP, Inflation, Labour Market, Trade and Balance of Payments. He also had responsibility for the range of monthly output economic indicators covering the Services, Production, Construction and Retail Sectors.

Darren also Chaired and led Economic Expert Groups at the United Nations and the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development.

The role

The Engagement Director role is new at ESCoE. Working alongside other members of the Leadership Executive and the Communications Manager, Darren will coordinate ESCoE’s engagement with stakeholders, including with government departments and the international statistical community. He will also connect the work of ESCoE Research Associates with potential funders.

The new post will help the centre reach its aim of addressing challenges and opportunities in measuring the economy through research.
