Alex Bryson

Alex Bryson is Professor of Quantitative Social Science at UCL’s Social Research Institute, and a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, the IZA Institute of Labor Economics and WISERD.  He is Chief Editor of Industrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society and an editor of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series A and the Journal of Participation and Employee Ownership.

Alex’s research focuses on work and employment relations. His current funded research projects examine the following issues:

·                the gender wage gap;

·                the effects of pay reforms on teachers and pupil attainment;

·                union effects on worker and employer outcomes;

·                effects of technological change on workers, employers and the labour market;

·                effects of health on labour market outcomes;

·                wages and employment dynamics.

Alex is also working on sports economics, workers’ well-being, management practices and their effects on workers and firms, racial discrimination in the labour market, and predicting economic downturns.
