Mechelle Mendoza Viernes
Mechelle is a PhD student in Economics at King’s Business School. Her research interest is in economic measurement, specifically in the development of labour market tables framework from multiple data sources. Her research also involves econometric studies on time use and productivity. Further, using the labour market tables, her research also involves understanding of skills mismatch and anticipation of future labour market needs.
She is a chief statistical specialist at the Income and Employment Statistics Division of the Philippine Statistics Authority, directly involved in the implementation of household surveys on the labor market, and income and expenditure. She was also directly involved on the generation of statistics and conduct of research studies on poverty, inequality and other wellbeing measures.
She earned her Master of Economics at Kobe University (Japan) under the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) and her Master of Statistics at University of the Philippine Diliman (Philippines). She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics at University of the Philippines Los Baños (Philippines).
